Waarom hebben we in Nederland niet zoiets als Adult swim? Hmmm... rare naam trouwens. Als je 'Adult swim' hoort, denk je niet meteen aan cartoons en anime.
Ik heb gister 2 afleveringen van de Amerikaanse Shin Chan gezien. Je kan zien dat dit veel dichter in de buurt bij de originele zit, dan de versie die wij hadden. Wel was er naar mijn smaak iets teveel 'adult' gepraat toegevoegd om het net iets pikanter te maken. Verder heel erg leuke show en hoop dat funimation binnenkort ook de DVD's gaat uitbrengen en alle series van SC gaat dubben, want ik vind die show echt lachen. Ik vond onze versie al heel erg leuk, vooral die aflevering met die man/vrouw verkoopster vond ik erg leuk. T'is tijd om de 2 Nederlandse DVD's die zijn uitgegeven te kopen, voor ze nergens meer te krijgen zijn.
Maar ik snap nog steeds niet hoe het nu kan dat er 2 Amerikaanse Shin Chan versies zijn.
Shin Chan is the international title for Crayon Shin-chan, designated by TV Asahi. Shin chan has enjoyed success on multiple continents, including Latin America, parts of Europe, and Eastern Asia. The show, which has been in production since 1992, is based on Yoshito Usui's manga series. In Japan, the series is aired in 15 minute, or 30 minute timeslots, which are each made of up smaller vignettes.
History of English adaptation
Around 1996, TV Asahi began an effort to market Shin Chan to the international market outside of Asia. Unfortunately, this would take a few years, as many countries would not see it til the new millennium hit. The network, along with US representative Lacey Entertainment, commissioned California based Fuse Entertainment, Inc. (now phuuz entertainment inc.) to supervise the localization of the series for the English speaking market. From this version, other versions of the show would be adapted into other languages for Latin America and parts of Europe. The cast of this English adaptation included actors like Kath Soucie, Andi McAfee, Grey Delisle, and Patrick Fraley. This version aired in the United Kingdom, but never managed to air in North America. One of the networks the series was pitched to was Adult Swim, whose VP of production Keith Crofford was revealed to be a fan of the series. Unfortunately, the network passed on Fuse's adaptation, feeling it was more appropriate for a kid audience. Despite no presence in North America, the show gained a lot of attention in other parts of the western world and Europe to make Shin Chan a larger success worldwide. Most of the networks that aired the series were part of the Fox Kids (now Jetix) chain. The license agreement between Lacey Entertainment and TV Asahi expired at the end of 2005.
TV Asahi wasn't ready to throw in the towel for the American market yet. In 2006, Shin chan was co-licensed in North America by FUNimation Entertainment alongside TV Asahi. Already aware of the Adult Swim connection, the show was pitched once again to the network, but this time with the intent to re-write the show's dialog for an older audience. Adult Swim accepted, but because of their hesitation with comedy anime, they decided not to go with a full season order and instead go with a 6 episode temporary lease. To ensure better success, FUNimation asked Adult Swim to recommend some Williams Street writers, or former writers, to help them with the English adaptation. FUNimation settled on the writing duo of Evan Dorkin and Sarah Dyer, in addition to their own writing talent. The network aired the show in a limited "test run" from August 19th through September 9th.
According to FUNimation actress Caitlin Glass (who plays Miss Anderson on the show) at Anime USA, Shin's test run was successful [1]. FUNimation later confirmed this was true at Mega Con 2007, and said the show would return to Adult Swim in mid-2007 with more episodes, and that the show will be released in season boxsets [2].
Ik vind deze dus wel erg leuk, maar ik vond de versie van Phuuz ook erg grappig. Hoop dat deze ooit ook nog op DVD wordt uitgegeven.
A while back I saw some Funimation episodes of Shin Chan on the internet. I did some research and found out Funimation made these as part of a test run. Later I found out that the test run was succesful and that Funimation would release more. I really like Shin Chan and I was wondering when new episodes will come and if DVD and when DVD's of the show will be released?
That's all I wanted to know. There is no Shin Chan new on the main site, except a few things on the boards. I hope this will change.

Hmm..de Amerikaanse versie heb ik nog nooit gezien,de Nederlandse dus wel (wie niet^^;). Maar er is nu ook een shin chan met een echt jongentje begrijp ik??
