In that case, why not start by going to a big meeting, where you don't stand out as much as at a small meeting. The Efteling meetings are always a lot of fun, and there's more to do than just sit around with people you don't know who speak Dutch among each other. The topic is in Dutch, but I'm sure the organisation will help you if you send them a pm and explain that you don't speak Dutch. (The organization are Ryuu and TR-jessie)
If you're anxious about going alone, you can probably go with my group. They all speak English relatively well and they would never cast someone out just because he doesn't speak English. I don't think I'll be going myself, because of a lack of time over the summer. However, you can just contact me if you want to go with them, and I'll get you in touch with those of us who do plan to go.

Yeah it'll be all good, just need to find some groups to hang out with near Nijmegen, I forgot i noticed some cosplayers in Nijmegen before! but it was right after i arrived here and i was all nervous about talking english to people I still feel a bit shy saying "Spreak je engels?" to everyone :3 but i feel rude not doing it XD

There are Nijmegen meetings quite frequently. Just keep an eye on the events section and one will pop up. You could also keep an eye out for ARCOM (Arnhem Cosplay Meeting), that's not too far either.

I have cosplayed before but im still a newbie but I travel by bus and train so it definitely attracted some eyes
but one thing about cosplaying is nobody knows who you are. And it was kinda funny seeing everybody's expression.
The most funniest part was the way back..
when the whole train was filled with cosplayers and a few ("Normal") Girls entered the train
I will never forget the looks on their faces XDD

but if it makes you feel uneasy by it start small.. put on a hat or something from anime XD you dont have to start with a full cosplay and such.
I started out as a cat girl.. (normal clothes, little thin tail and ears) and will now hopefully be walking around as one of my oc`s ..
and that will include a dress, mask, big fluffy tail, wig and ears, hat the whole set .. the very first time for me (wich was 2 years ago) was a bit of nail biting
but it definitely is fun to cosplay for me now <3
