---Their Arena tour that attracted 150,000 people over 17 concerts in 8 areas of Japan ended without a hitch

JJ: Holding an Arena tour in Japan was our dream when we first came to Japan, so I’m really happy! It was a really cool concert because of everyone’s cheers and support. I would like to sincerely thank everyone

----The last stop was at the Saitama Super Arena, do you still remember that it’s the place where you filmed your first PV?
JJ: I remember! It was the [Stay With Me Tonight] (released on April 05) PV. We didn’t know any Japanese at all because we just came to Japan, all our extras were foreigners, yet they could speak Japanese fluently, it was really mortifying

----I see. But you’re very fluent now. It’s amazing

JJ: I’m still far from that *laughs* Because after the Japanese tour ended, we had to do our Asia Tour, and a photo shoot for our photo book in America, and at the same time, record songs for our new Korean album

----All within a month? You seem very busy. Didn’t you rest?

JJ: Yeah. We’re continuously busy. However, it’s okay since I’ve been playing with my skateboard during the breaks in our schedule! But I’ve gotten a few injuries because of skateboarding…….I’ve gotten a few bruises on my left shoulder and elbow

----Ah, that must’ve hurt

JJ: It was a little painful when I fell, but it’s fine now! Because the rather steep slope has slippery moss growing on it, it was easy for me to fall. However, there isn’t much moss any more! I’ve become really good at this! I really want to show off my skateboarding skills to everyone! Because I’ve been so addicted to skateboarding recently, when I go home after my schedule ends, I’ll be practicing in the road in front of my house!

---THSK always seems to get hurt around summer, so please be carefully. However, with such a busy schedule, how did you find time to record your new single どうして君を好きになってしまったんだろう？[color]
JJ: During our Japanese Arena tour

[color=indigo]----This single isn’t a lively summer song

JJ: However, isn’t it good to be able to listen to such a quiet, pretty and touching song during summer? When I listened to the melody, I thought of the quiet and refreshing lakeside. The lyrics talk about how the main character always thought he’d be together with the person he liked, when she married a different guy. Although it’s a really sad story, it compliments the lonely feeling of summer.

----If you were the main character, would you snatch the girl away from her husband-to-be at the wedding ceremony?
JJ: No, no. I can’t do that. But I'm sure would feel so sad that I would feel like doing so because she's marrying! That means I have no choice but to let it go... If that happened to me, I wouldn't be able to forget about it for a long time. But aside from that! She will go on a honeymoon as she marries, right?

----Yeah, that’s right. You’d tag along?
JJ: I’d go first, to the hotel she’ll be staying. I’ll write a letter and ask the front desk to pass it to her *laughs*

----What would you write on the letter?
JJ: Just one line……’Idiot’ *laughs*

----Hahahaha! What’s that? You don’t need to go just for that *laughs*
JJ: That’s evidence of how shocking it would be! Although the story is very sad, but the song’s really pretty, therefore I really like it!

-----The a cappella is really pretty too!
JJ: Yeah! The a cappella version of this song is really pretty! It’s my favorite a cappella amongst all the a capellas we’ve done so far

----Who has the lowest voice? The lowest.

JJ: Yunho! It’s really low! It was really hard for him to sing this song because his voice was really low. Because we worked hard to sing this song, please listen to it carefully.

------Your coupling song feels like a summer song.

JJ: Yeah. [Box in the ship] is our first challenge at reggae songs! I think it’ll be great if you listen to song while relaxing at the beach or in a cool room.

---So, can we ask you about your memories of your summer holidays?
JJ: Yeah. However, my summer holiday memories aren’t exactly happy memories *laughs* Because what I remember most vividly is the memory of me nearly drowning in the pool. *laughs*

---Eh? When you were young?

JJ: Ummm. It happened after I grew up. After THSK debuted. *laughs* I really can’t swim *laughs*

----Really? But didn’t you say you really like the beach and the sea?
JJ: That’s right. However, I can only look at them *laughs* I don’t go into the water because I might drown. *laughs* The drowning incident took place long ago, when everyone in our company went to film a PV together. While everyone was happily playing in the pool together during the filming, I was the only one drowning *laughs* But because everyone was so focused on the filming, they didn’t notice that I was drowning *laughs* It was dangerous. Everyone, please be careful when you go to the beach or the pool!

---So, what are you looking forward to this summer?
JJ: A-Nation! A-Nation doesn’t just comprise of THSK fans but of other artistes’ fans, people who might not know of THSK. It’s a really good chance to let more people know about THSK. It’s really exciting so I’m really looking forward to it! I really cannot stand hot weather because I was born in winter. But I look forward to A-Nation every year, so let’s have a great time together this summer too!

Their Arena tour in 2008 was a huge success; all their releases have topped the charts; making their first appearance at the Kouhaku festival, etc. 2008 was a year of great leaps for THSK. Their 3rd time appearing on the front page special of this magazine, they’ve been flying non-stop between Korea, Japan and other Asian countries. Therefore, we’ve decided to make the theme of this interview ‘Relax Time’ where they’ll talk about ‘relax’ ‘love’ ‘music’ and ‘goals’. Beginning with their 4th album [The Secret Code] going on sale on the 25th of March, we dig into “The present (T/N: ‘present’ as in ‘now’) of the 5 members”

- How have you been recently?
YC: Busy but I’ve been really happy everyday

- You mean you can find happiness in the midst of that busy schedule?
YC: That’s right. Therefore, it’s great to be busy. However, remembering the choreography for the tour this time was a little… *laughs* The tour is really worth anticipating.

- *laughs* If you have an off day, what would you like to do? Just say whatever comes to mind right now.
YC: Although I’ve always said in interviews that I would like to make Japanese friends, actually, I’ve never really been sincere about that *laughs* But I’ve been really thinking of making Japanese friends recently. I would like to go out and play with my Japanese friends if I had some just like how I do with my Korean friends. I’ve been wanting to achieve the same balance between my life in Japan and in Korea, I’ve been thinking seriously about this.

- When we last met, although you said that you cycle to Shibuya, now that you’ve become such a big star, isn’t cycling to Shibuya difficult?
YC: Although we don’t go by bicycles now, we still go to Shibuya from time to time.

- Is it okay? Wouldn’t it be terrible if you were discovered?
YC: It’s not that… Usually, they just shake our hands and bid us goodbye.

- I see. You go to Shibuya to shop?
YC: No. We go whenever we feel like eating atka mackerel (hokke).

- Hokke? You mean the fish?
YC: Yeah, we usually just go to a (drinking) tavern/(standing) bar, just the cheaper kinds.

- That’s just like a commoner
YC: But that’s fun.. I really like going to ramen shops too. However, since we’re beginning our tour, we must take care of our health. So even if I feel like eating tonkotsu ramen in the middle of the night, I would have to control myself *laughs*

- Yoochun likes tonkotsu ramen?
YC: Yeah! It’s really~ delicious! Tonkotsu ramen!!

- Since you’re busy everyday, asking this is a little…. Anyway, what would you like to do if you had a long off day?
YC: Oh oh- Just thinking about it gets me excited *laughs* So far, if I’ve a holiday, I would like to spend it all in Korea, I want to meet my family and friends in Korea…. Now, I’d like to go to a hot spring in the Japanese countryside and eat Japanese food.

- Drinking sake and eating hokke! *laughs*
YC: That’s right. And peas. Japanese peas are dangerous! (T/N: Means they’re really delicious)

- You seem to have a pretty good understanding of Japan. So when you go to work, which part of yourself do you think you need to change?
YC: What I need to change most is that I cannot cross the line at work (T/N: Needing to keep his life and work separate) . For example, when talking to both our manager and our staffs, I usually am not very careful of what I tell them. Although I’ve never thought much about it, but I think I’ve got to change that.

- Yoochun’s song [Kiss the Baby Sky] included in the single has shown that you’ve broadened your style of expressing music. Do you think that the way you tackle work commitments, etc has changed?
YC: Yeah. The pressure I feel when I’m composing slowly disappears. Although my ability to focus when I’m composing is slowly disappearing, I can still compose songs. I think that’s the difference.

- Did having [Kiss the Baby Sky] in your newest single boost your confidence?
YC: My confidence grew a lot but at the same time I feel a little embarrassed *bitter laugh* Recently, because I was embarrassed when we were filming the PV for this song, my expression during the lip-synching parts was pretty stiff.

- Although [Kiss the Baby Sky] is about breaking up with a lover because of your dream, is this Yoochun’s real story?
YC: I’ve been asked a lot about that, but that’s not the actual story

- So please tell us your story now.
YC: The lyrics are about how a man deliberately breaks up with his girlfriend because he wants her to persue her dream. But in actual fact, the story is reversed. My ex-girlfriend broke up with me because of (my) dream.

- I see
YC: Therefore, I didn’t want it to be a sad song, nor a ballad. I wanted it to be a pop song, bright, because of the future…..

- You linked optimistic lines like ‘I must smile in future’ and ‘I’m still alone tomorrow’. Personally, I can empathize with ‘The 2 people in the photo are always smiling’ line.
YC: Breakups are really painful. After the breakup, when you look at the photo (the 2 of you took), suddenly, all the memories will come back and that’s the most painful part of it. I tried to express that in the lyrics. It was really tough for me when I was writing the lyrics.

- So, when you think of the word ‘love’, what comes to mind?
YC: Although there are many things but I’ll think of last year’s Christmas. 3 of us, all males went drinking on Christmas eve, but because we drank too much, I slept in during Christmas. When I woke up I went to the living room and saw my mum, my brother and his girlfriend making salad together. When I took in their happy expressions, I felt love for all of them. Love doesn’t only exist in like big elaborate events but also in small things. This small love is growing page by page, be it getting married or having a family… that’s what I think

- The aura of love must have filled the living room then
YC: That’s right. I was jealous! *laughs* Although my brother and his girlfriend were saying things like ‘how do we make this’ and such, but from their expressions and the smiles on their faces, I felt really great as an older brother.

- Yoochun, what actions that girls do make you feel love?
YC: I like domestic/homely actions. For example, when washing dishes, or peeling fruits, or when her boyfriend is eating her home made food and her uneasy expression when she’s thinking ‘How does he find it?’

- So such natural actions captivate you. Also, what do you think is the difference between ‘love’ and ‘like’?
YC: ‘Like’ is a chance. Working hard during that chance and the feeling will mature into ‘love’. Anyone can have a chance at liking someone, but it’d be great if that feeling can mature into love after hard work… that’s what I think

- So lastly, what’s your goal for this year?
YC: That I’ll be happier! *laughs* And that the aura of happiness will spread to those around me, I want everyone to be happier.

Nu wacht ik nog op 2 andere pakketjes van YA. Maar die mappen: Ze zijn uber cute en ik had verwacht dat ze van mindere kwaliteit zouden zijn. Is dus niet zo...goeie koop voor maar 1 usd!!! *happy*

btw. Ik wou zo'n mapje eigenlijk voor m'n losse huiswerkopdrachten gebruiken...maar als ik ze zou meenemen krijg ik op school vast van die 'wtf' reacties -.- Toch maar niet doen, ne?

Weten we dat ook weer.

Die mappen wil ik ook!! Zien er echt goed uit, ik had nogal crappy kwaliteit verwacht.
Neem het niet mee naar school, mensen vinden mij nu al te maf.

Blijf erbij. Nee serieus volgens een vriend van me ben ik veel leuker dan die chick (jeej!)

@ emmiej: de map zelf is glossy, dus het is zeker goeie kwaliteit! Ik had dat ruwere spul verwacht. Weetje wel, die je normaal in de winkel koopt. Maargoed ik neem m toch maar niet mee dan...XD

Ik denk dat ik het wel aanschaf, misschien dat ik het nog wel meeneem ook. Maar goed ik heb totaal geen leuke mensen in mijn klas, dus hoef me ook eigenlijk nergens voor te schamen xD

Ik heb wel veel coole mensen in m'n klas dus dan is het ff wat anders XD Zo jammer...ik wil m'n spullen gewoon kunnen gebruiken

Heeft m'n moeder ook 1 keer gezegd, dat je best wel eens wat voor jezelf mag kopen om de motivatie erin te houden (werk, school etc). Week later nam ze haar worden terug..maar het was al te laat: de Jpop addict in mij was geboren. Lol. Niet dat het haar schuld is ofzo...maar het motiveerde zeker! haha!

Nadeel van een studierichting waar veel meiden zitten. Heb 2 jongens in mijn klas (niet boeiend) en verder allemaal van die valse chicks zoals je ook ziet in The devil wears prada. Meeste daarvan gaan ook bij tijdschriften werken, dus verklaard.

Alleen snapt mijn moeder nog steeds niet wat ik in die jongens zie. En maar waarschuwen dat als ik een vriend krijg in Japan of weet ik veel dat ik er niets van moet verwachten die trouwen toch met iemand uit eigen land. Ehm ja hoor mams xD
