Hello and sorry for not writing in dutch, so i put it in the offtopic. I hope thats ok. I only arrived in Amsterdam Zuidoost a while ago and i am not sure how long i will stay in Amsterdam but due to the habit of being human, i am looking for other people which share the interest in games, anime and Manga.
Due to the fact that i am working over the week and not knowing anyone here, it is kind of hard to find people with the same interest, so i am hoping to find maybe some people that are willing to meet.
About myself: I lived the last 3 years in Ireland and moved recently to Amsterdam for a new job. Originally i am from Germany but i think its harder to look for german speakers rather than looking for people which speak english. I am 29 years old and spent the last 24 years with animes, manga and games and no i am not a hardcore in any of them. I enjoy them as a media to entertain me after a hard day of work
Currently i am watching Bleach, Ookami-San, Katanagatari, Code Geass and lots of other anime/live action. Reading is currently of hold but i collect, when i have time, Ah! My Goddess and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles. Games: I have a Wii and a army of PS2, PSP and PS3
Well, i hope i can find some people which would be interested in meeting.

What you could try is attending the conventions we have here in the Netherlands. Most of them even use English when on stage and in booklets. The next convention is in January. You may find more information here: http://tsunacon.nl . Or you could try the website of Animecon: http://www.animecon.nl .
There is also a Expo coming in Belgium (Japan-Expo). It's info should be on www.japan-expo.be , but they're still working on their website. The convention, sofar I read, is in April next year.

Or go to a meet once? (though those topics are mostly in dutch). Every once in a while Babyentei organizes a "No-cosplay-meet", which is a more serious meet and there's some sort of age limit, so that there's a more serious group of people from 18 year and older. If I remember correctly, there will be one in January again~

Thats so far very helpful. I mean i can read part of the dutch language but its still very difficult. Mostly i use google for that. Already been to tons of conventions in Germany, UK and Ireland but its usually too big to get connected with other people. Small meets are usually better for this. If there is something in january, thats a long time until then but at least better than nothing.

Sure, thats always a possibility but i am always a bit reserved when it comes to this. I am analyzing the community first, before i interact. I need time to warm up and a con is usually not the place for me to warm up -.-
A meet would be nice and i am usually free on the weekend, unless i am traveling to conventions.

Oh, it is.. It definetely is. For instance: - go to the Anime 2011 (www.animecon.nl) convention. - go sit in the bar. - offer a beer to people with a red polo shirt. They will immediately be your best friend. - especially offer a beer to the guy who, besides a red polo shirt, also wears a green fluorescent jacket. He will call you his brethren from that day on. - ???? - PROFIT!

Meetings are nice. But be advised that meetings can also be offending/disappointing/traumatising for some poeple. If you don't feel like walking around in a public place with a group of hyperactive, cosplaying children, I'd advise you to visit one of those "No-Cosplay" meets. They're usually quieter, and the average age is much higher.

I am not a cosplayer and i know from my experience that meets are better for me I went to over 30 conventions in 8 years and probably 140 meets and the meet usually triggered me to go to the conventions and meet the people again. I usually make more new friends at meetings rather than at a convention. Say it, that i am weird. I wouldnt deny that

A meet is smaller so it's easier to make contact with other people, so I don't think it's all that weird But yeah, for a proper meet I really think you should wait for January, since november and december are pretty busy months for most people already. ._.

just make a non-cosplay meet topic and talk about wich date ppl are available. or talk about making a little group to go to tsunacon! meet once or twice before the con to get to know eachother a little better(go to the movies or shopping in amstedam)

I'm sure it'll be no problem. All the people who are/act like adults, are surely to understand english, so it'll be better in english as well :D
