Since it’s based on a (‘fast-paced’) action video game, thing’s aren’t going to be the same as regular D&D 3.5. For this, I basically have to rewrite lots of technical things in the rules, as I plan to keep it action-based. For rewriting the rules, I am actually, maybe silly, using the WoW 2nd revision rulebook. Reason for this is that this book contains most of the core rules and allows me to, step-by-step, rewrite the rules.

The core classes will disappear in favor of basically “Fighter” and “Caster”, just like in the game itself. Besides that, every player will also be aligned a core element, in the game simply Earth, Water, Fire and Air. Based upon the class and element a character is built. Ofcourse, one of the more important aspects of the game, Djinn, won’t be missed. Djinns will really morph the players into various different play styles whenever they want. This is actually going to be more of a problem because Djinns in the game are so versatile with stat points or spells and in a pen-and-paper game, you can’t easily change all these stats.

Because the classes are based on the elements, one of each element is required to be played by a player – meaning you’d need at least four -, it can be easier to implement puzzles like in Golden Sun. Normally in D&D you might be limited by your imagination or skills of the players’ characters, but if you know there’s at least one player that can control fire at will, one can blow winds or one can shake the earth, it could be a lot easier to implement more difficult or techy puzzles, something I found myself to have trouble with at regular D&D (maybe I just suck? ) either with making them up or getting the player to solve them (thinking of something cool doesn’t mean the party thinks the same).

Combat is also something more .. spectacular. Now, D&D combat is usually the fighter hitting the front and the mage blasting a fireball (within it’s limit of spell slots), while in a video game you’re usually left with Mana and thus plenty to blast with. Now, mana is difficult to recreate in D&D because (again) it requires a lot of paperwork, but for this I was thinking of some other system. Maybe a bit more like 4.0 where you have a number of spells per combat/round instead of slots per day. This way it’s possible to make a more (imaginary) action filled combat where every class, including the fighters and casters, can use spells (in the game referred as “Psynergy”). Of course, spellcasters will be more varied as they will have access to more powerful psynergy and Area of Attack spells, but fighters should be able to ditch out a massive attack with, for example, Ragnarok in the Earth department. Psynergy will get multiple “levels” (like lesser and greater Bear’s Strength), like in the game.
One last important aspect of Golden Sun is “unleashes”, basically a magical effect that happens when making a critical strike (as icy burst or vorpal enchant in regular D&D). Every (magical) weapon will have some kind of unleash, giving it an extra flair in combat. As casters won’t benefit from this as much (they probably won’t go into combat as much as in the game), I’m thinking of adding some “power leech” that will allow them to use the weapon’s unleash for various bonusses during casting.

Sounds like some idea, doesn’t it?

But I do hope its going to last longer now >.> Not just 2 months.

But I think I’ll try to convert my webpage to Drupal. I’ll be going intern at someone and I’ll be using Drupal, so it seems a good way for me to start trying this stuff out.
Perhaps it’s also a way to increase my impulses to write something in my blawg.

Only, ofcoure, I’d need to link Drupal to WordPress. Seems like a good project! … Though, there are probably plugins, but I’ll see.

“Your the dumbass, And clearly not a very good dungeon keeper player”

First of all, “Your”. It’s “you’re”. Anyways, it’s actually a series of comments (check This picture) about a guy saying I’m cheating in a video I made (it’s an old video about a Dungeon Keeper level). What an.. idiot. Saying I’m cheating because of various stupid reasons and clearly he’s the one being wrong here. (I did kind of misread one of his comments, but my latest added comment clarified that). YouTube… Internet… series of retards. *sigh*

Today, I was randomly thinking at work (like normal), and I started thinking what to do with my blog that I never update and mostly is only being read by spambots.

I had this awesome idea (gasp, how original) to pick one awesome quotes from a day, even when they all suck or when there are only epic quotes, and make a nice little story around it.

Today’s (I’m certain this will never get daily updated) quote occurred at work (my last day, even). There was this kid and his mother coming into the store, and the mother asked her son why he didn’t grab a basket. The kid replied to his mother with (here it comes! ) “No way, I was in first, you should take it”.
I really kind of lol’d and was kind of sad. Seriously, getting in first in the store usually makes you the one actually grabbing it, right? Since you’re first, you’re probably also the first to grab stuff and put it in one.
Even so, the kid could’ve also been a nice son and actually help out his mother who was already carrying some other things. Youth these days… >_>

On this episode some fancy stuff.

First, a small update, basically I updated my gallery a bit for your viewing pleasure. Go on, images won’t bite.

Another thing is.. I have successfully been accepted into the OVH Beta Server program, meaning I’ll have one additional server under my command! How great is that. F-yes. But I don’t really know what to do yet.
Bit annoying how I chose Ubuntu 8.10 though.. I don’t like Ubuntu as server (Ubuntu is for desktops) and I’d prefer FreeBSD over Linux also. Ah well, not that I complain.

Besides, concerning my previous post, I couldn’t get the gallery software to work, but I found another one.
It is now located at http://www.xslicer.nl/gallery2. Enjoy the awesome (perhaps some NSFW) backgrounds, there are over 700 atm.

Also, it appears Blizzard upgraded Battle.net today (or some very short time ago). I already made an account, but I have no idea how they do it with the privacy. They say they support your privacy, but there were also things about sharing your information with 3th parties or so. Meh, I added all my games nonetheless.

Not much has happened actually, but I’m thinking about uploading some backgrounds & nice pictures.

I had gotten a reply from Microsoft, telling me to do bullcrap (check firewall while I said I didn’t have one). Then I replied them I already did all those things. I got another reply asking me to send some logs. I sent those yesterday, but 5 minutes later I figured out the reason myself.

Apparently, my MSN disconnected when a song started in my Foobar2000. Meaning MSN would disconnect when it gets the “Now Playing” data. There was a program sending this, namely, the Last.FM program. I disabled it, and.. it still disconnected. So I had another program sending data to MSN. This was AMIP, a program to send “Now playing” data to IM programs, but mainly mIRC. It also sent data to MSN, and it was slighty outdated on that for MSN 2009. I disabled it and since then it works great. The Last.FM program does the trick for the Now Playing data in MSN w/o crashing. w00t

Anyways, first thing if you’ll ever see it, it’s a damn long sit. I sat there from 20:20 till 23:20 (so the movie took about 2:45 hours, considering 15 minutes of pre-commercials).
About the movie, I won’t really spoil, but one of the negative points is that the movie takes so long and sometimes parts in the movie go quite slow. On those parts you really want the talking to quit and see some damn action! Also, there are quite a few erotic scenes (kissing/sex) in the movie and I thought those were unnecessary and shouldn’t have been in it.
The movie is quite the entertaining watch though (if you like the genre) and Rorschach (the guy with the everchanging mask) is made of awesome. Mosly the movie follows Rorschach and a few other Watchmen to see how they uncover the facts about the nuclear threat with Russia (the movie plays in a longer variant of the Cold War) and how it could nuke the entire planet. One tries to stop it, the other wants to get free energy for everyone to stop it and another god-like being stands between it as some safe-guard. Alas, it’s all quite weird, you’ll have to see it.
